![]() Every single episode makes me laugh no matter how many times I've seen it before. Every cartoon should be this good. Futurama has some of the best writing and voice actors of any cartoon ever! The show's so good I can't even pick a favorite character. Zoidberg rules, but so do Farnsworth, Bender, Fry, and just about everyone on the show! Billy West [Fry] does an especially excellent job, and I just recently realized he also did the voice for Geeker on Project Geeker! I love how Zoidberg's always disgusting and how Bender's such a degenerate! And for a short run, Futurama has had so many absolutely classic episodes. When Fry drank that king, or the X-Mas special with the giant killer robot Santa, or the one with the giant garbage ball heading for earth, and so many more! I really can't think of a show that's made me ![]() laugh so often, and there are a lot of great classic comedies out there. I really hated to see the show killed in its prime, but there are cool things underway. Some DVD Futurama movies are in the works and maybe if they do well, we'll have our show back. I'm just glad we live in the age of DVD, so everyone can enjoy Futurama anytime they want. There's no reason I can't sit down someday and watch all 20 seasons of Futurama, I'm so happy to see some hope for the show! The Futurama logo links to a fantastic fan site that's overloaded with great stuff like sounds, icons, wallpapers and more! Here are some other cool Futurama links:Futurama at the IMDB. They're making some new straight to DVD movies!!! Bender's Big Score is the first one! |

![]() Man's civilization is cast in ruin. 2000 years later, earth is reborn. A strange new world rises from the old. A world of savagery, super-science and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice. With his companions Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel. He pits his strength, his courage and his fabulous Sun Sword against the forces of evil. He's Thundarr the Barbarian!" How could you not love that?? The setting is one of the best post apocalyptic worlds you'll find anywhere. There are lots of monsters and strange creatures, mixed with left over high technology and ruins of civilization, including famous landmarks. There are obviously things borrowed from Star Wars like Sun Sword/Lightsaber and Mok/Wookie among others but it's still a cool take on things. Being a Barbarian, Thundarr's no genius, but Princess Ariel is smart enough for the both of them. Plus her magic consistantly gets them out of trouble. ![]() There were only 21 episodes made from 1980 to 1982. Watching the Thundarr The Barbarian again recently, I can still see the show's coolness and I think the whole Thundarr concept would make a great movie if done right. The production design was done by the famous Jack Kirby, but thankfully he doesn't do any of the actual art [love his design, hate his art]. But the cartoon is just like a comic book come to life. I especially like one of Thundarr's main villains, Gemini. The dude's very original and cool. Thundarr's a great cartoon and if you get the chance to watch any episodes don't miss it! And for another cool barbarian, read the very cool comic book X-O Manowar. The Thundarr the Barbarian logo links to a really cool Thundarr fan site with lots of content. ![]() more than most others from my childhood. Around the time I was in grade 3 or 4, The Mighty Hercules was on when I came home for lunch. It's definitely my favorite version of Hercules, and highly superior to that disney version the kids love today. In the cartoon, Hercules is given a ring by Zeus. The ring allows Hercules to keep his powers while on earth. So Hercules, and his faithful sidekick Newton the Centaur protect the kingdom of Calydon from it's many menaces. Herc's main nemesis is the evil wizard Daedalus and his many insidious schemes, but he also battles other threats like Willamene the Sea Witch and the Mask of Vulcan among others. The cartoon was syndicated in 1963, and there were 109 short [5+ minute] episodes. During the course of the show Hercules fights the Hydra, Medusa, the Minotaur, and a double created by Daedalus among many others.![]() The voice actors do a great job too, including Jimmy Tapp [Hercules/Zeus], Helene Nickerson [Helena] and Gerry Bascombe [Newton/Daedalus]. It's amazing how such cool stories can be told in such a short cartoon. There's a lot of re-using scenes throughout the show, but that was the standard for most cartoons of the time and it doesn't hurt the show at all. And I suspect that Newton always repeating what he was saying may have been to stretch the running time. Unfortunately the show isn't out on VHS or DVD [yet!], but I can hope can't I? ![]() Sure, it was a cartoon about toys, and it was made to help sell those toys. But while that was going on, one of the best cartoons ever was made! The stories and characters are still iconic today! There were 65 fantastic episodes in the first two seasons, then the cool Transformers The Movie. There were some episodes after that, but I like to pretend that the slippery slope of quality called season 3 never happened. They've started calling the one and only Transformers "Generation One". It's the only cool Tansformers and I don't consider all the stuff since as worth the time. Beast Wars is particularly blasphemous, the only legit beast machines are the Dinobots! I love all the characters, but I'd have to say that Jazz, Wheeljack and Soundwave are on the top of my list. The writing is so good in this show, it'll still be great long after humans forget what cars were!![]() I've just been re-watching some of the classic episodes, and they stand up as well today as when I first saw them! The classic sound effects and animations that lead to and from commercials are especially mind blowing! If you're too old or too young to have seen this show, you're missing one of the greatest pieces of entertainment ever! And if you have a kid or young relative who hasn't seen the show, get it to them before they think that new crap is Transformers! I can't recommend this great cartoon more! It was a huge part of my childhood, and I'm still as much a fan if not more! The Transformers logo links to a great Transformers site with tons of cool pictures! ![]() The show is brilliantly written, and features some of the best voice casting I've ever seen on a cartoon. What I really love about the world of He-Man is the unique combination of magic, plus high tech and ancient weaponry! And the show featured the only rogues gallery I can think of that's cooler than The Flash's! All the characters are so original and unique, they're still classics today. The cartoon's few flaws were obviously limitations of matching up with the toys, like how Prince Adam and He-Man looked identical, etc. At the time though, it was the great match with the toy series that made the show so great. The recent remake addressed these issues perfectly, and provided another layer to the world of Eternia. But I'll save that for when that show gets added. The character and vehicle design for the show [and toys] is still some of the best I've seen! I worship He-Man and Skeletor, but I'd say my favorite secondary characters are Stratos and Beast Man. After watching some episodes again recently, what really strikes me is the amazing music and sound effects from the show.![]() Nothing else has as unique and surreal sound palette, just listening to the sound effects transports me through time and space. The art in the series is really fantastic too, it reminds me a lot of the art of Chuck Dixon's Justice League Of America work [actually vice versa I suppose]. As a showcase for pure imagination and infinite coolness, there's nothing like this classic cartoon series! I'm so glad to see it finally come out on DVD! Get it, watch it, and show it to everyone! While trying to think of my favorite episodes, I realize that there are way too many classics to pick, I recommend the whole series with very few exceptions. There are a few comedy relief episodes I could do without, but that can't change the coolness factor of such a great series.
